Scarlet Letter

In the Scarlet Letter a topic touched upon is slut shaming which is relatable to today. Hester is being slut shame for committing adultery. In today’s society people are being slut shame for things that may not be true mainly because of rumors. Due to social media rumors are spread more easily and it could even be because of the way someone is wearing makeup or wearing certain clothes. The only differences between Hester and people today is that Hester acts confident and like she hasn’t done anything wrong . People today take it two different ways they either feel horrible about themselves or they take it like they don’t care like Hester, but not many take it that way. I feel like many teenagers read this book since it still has a topic that's relatable to them. This book empowers women to feel confident about themselves despite what other people think of them or mistakes they done. It shows no matter what bad scenario your in you can come back from that and still be successful. This helps the people who feel defenseless in these situations that they don’t need to take what people are saying they can win by showing your proud with who you are despite all the mistakes you done.
