Scarlet Letter

There is a lot of symbolism in the book of The Scarlet Letter. For instance, the color red seems to be a major key reference leading to something bigger. I think the color red symbolises evil, negative, bold, torture, and death. In a sense each of the ones I used to describe the color red were interpret in someway into the book. For example, the evil in the story is the sin of adultery committed and the negative is shown with the negativity attitude of the townsfolk towards Hester and Pearl. As for the word bold is shown through Hester, Pearl ,and even Arthur. Hester shows her boldness throughout the story by not caring what others think and standing proudly with no shame to hid the letter A. Arthur shows his boldness through admitting in front of everyone he is the father of Pearl . As for Pearl she shows boldness when others talk badly of her and when they confronted her of the theory of God and stood proudly with her answer. Torture is shown through the negative issults and the whispers Hester endured. Death is shown by the death of relationships with one another and the literal one of Arthur.
