Scarlet Letter

A plot twist is when the the father of Pearl is revealed. The father ends up being the minister named Arthur Dimmesdale. At first nobody quite understands Arthur or his role of duty, but it is later confirmed he is performing his duties as a Puritan and as “Chosen one.” Although, he knows he is indeed not the “Chosen one” but in fact a hypocrite since he has committed a sin. He is very devoted to God and his beliefs so when I found it he was the “mistress” I was shocked. Did he sin since he was being tempted or was it real love? I would like to think it was real affectionate feelings he felt for Hester since in the end of the story he holds her hand proudly. Arthur is a relatable character since he living his life with two sides to him. He has the side where he pretends to be what everyone pictures him to be and the other as his true self. When he was at the forest with Hester the readers got a glimpse of who he truly is and how much he cares for her and Pearl. He wanted nothing more than reveal who he is and be there for his daughter.
